Chief Engineer - Brian Hills
After completing school, Brian's interests led him towards a career in Engineering. He began working for Toshiba as a technician and after a short while became a Senior Customer Service Technician. In 1993 he was given the opportunity to join the yachting industry and jumped at it. Over the last 20 years, Brian's skills and experience have developed, leading him into various new build projects.
Relief Chief Engineer - Jochem Wijnans
Jochem was raised in Inveraray, Scotland. He is a qualified Y1 Chief Engineer and also has a Diploma in Marine Surveying with accreditation in Super Yacht surveys and Marine Engineering surveys; HNC in Marine Engineering. He started in Yachting by joining the Merchant Navy in 1993, after 8 years of oil tankers and the off-shore industry. He also worked in various hydro power stations in Scotland, refurbishing turbines and generators before becoming a yacht engineer in 2004. He has been Chief Engineer since 2006. Before joining Phoenix² permanently in November 2017, he completed 2 previous Atlantic crossings. He owns a 1950's, 65 foot Larch on Oak Scottish fishing boat and enjoys gardening, his dogs, motorsports and wakeboarding.
Second Engineer - Sean Feehan
Sean is from County Cork, Ireland. He is a graduate of the National Maritime College of Ireland and holds both a Degree in Marine Engineering and an Unlimited Second Engineer Officer's Certificate of Competency. He was previously involved in the Petrochemical Industry and worked as a Subsea Engineer in the field of Oil and Gas Exploration before joining the Yachting Industry in 2010. Sean acquired his taste for all things Nautical after spending his childhood around boats on the West Coast of Ireland, and has been working on them since age 14. Since then he has travelled the world on vessels ranging from Subsea Construction Ships to Dive Support Vessels, and of course Superyachts.
Second Engineer - Barry McGovernn
Barry is from Navan Ireland. He is qualified with a 2nd Engineers Unlimited license and a Bachelor's of Science in Marine and Plant Engineering. He has sailed from Norway to the Seychelles, Holland to Florida and also the Galapagos islands. His interests include sports like rugby, football and he is a keen diver.
Third Engineer - James Taylor
After finishing school, James completed his Electrical certificates and has been an electrician for 8 years. James originally comes from Auckland, New Zealand and has been with Phoenix² for a year. When James is not working, he truly loves outdoor activities such as hunting, diving, fishing and even spent several seasons as a maintenance manager for Chalets in the French Alps so he could pursue his passion for snowboarding.
Third Engineer - Jevon Jackson
Jevon comes to us from Durban, South Africa, where he worked towards his skilled trade as a plumber. After living in South Africa, Jevon spent time living in London as a Mechanical Project Supervisor. He has his Plumbing and Mechanical certifications as well as his MCA yacht rating and is a Padi Open water diver. Jevon has a love for the water and enjoys staying active through surfing.
